Tarrafal – Ecoresort
Tourism Urban Planning Tarrafal, Ilha de Santiago, CABO VERDEECO-RESORT Tarrafal is located on the north edge of the town of Tarrafal – Santiago Island, Cape Verde, immediately adjacent to Tarrafal beach. The site extends along the slope contained between the sea and the dry riverbed to the north of the village, presenting a rugged morphology with a predominant east / west orientation.
The site is an exceptional place in view of the characteristics of its topography. It extends along the slope that ends at Tarrafal beach, includes very diverse and occasionally very steep slopes, guaranteeing an exceptional range of landscapes, allowing the enjoyment of magnificent views.
The aim of this project was to take full advantage of the natural properties of the site and its particular characteristics, using natural materials, such as timber, in the hotel construction. The buildings were framed in this environment, in symbiosis with the natural surroundings, taking advantage of the views and the proximity to the sea.
This led to the project for a tourist development in the form of a 5-star ECO-RESORT Hotel, with 500 accommodation units and 19 villas, planned to be carried out in 4 phases, with various measures in mind to promote more sustainable tourism in terms of energy consumption, water use, CO2 emissions and recycling.
